#CMT# #/CMT# The system (1) has a communication master (3) to maintain a routing table that stores logical connections (16-19) between local modules (70-91) in accordance with a safety-related function. The communication master controls automatic routing of data from a transmitting module to a receiving module, such that each communication among the modules of one logical group occurs through point-to-point connections (10-15). The receiving module performs a safety-related action according to the received data. A communication network (2) retrieves information from the modules for establishing the table. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for a method for monitoring safety functions in an automation system. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Automation bus system.
