PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for economically producing 2,2-bis(4- hydroxyphenyl)propane, namely bisphenol A by using a catalyst having an excellent catalytic activity and catalytic life. SOLUTION: In this method for producing bisphenol A by subjecting phenol and acetone to a condensation through dehydration in the presence of an acidic catalyst, an ion exchange resin fiber having 5-400μm fiber diameter obtained by sulfonating a fibrous crosslinked resin obtained from a monovinyl monomer consisting essentially of a styrene and an aliphatic aldehyde as a crosslinking agent is used as the acidic catalyst. |
