<p>The present invention generally relates to a light weight tire comprising a plurality of layers of steel belts (110,200,440,500). The layers are each a predetermined fraction of the footprint width, and the width of each layer can vary from one layer to another. The tire includes a pair of wedge strips (300,310) disposed between two reinforcing layers (200,440).
