摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion exchange membrane having ion permselectivity as a diaphragm and small membrane resistance as a diaphragm for a redox flow battery. SOLUTION: In this redox flow battery having a positive electrode cell equipped with a positive electrode and filled with a positive electrode electrolyte containing sulfate ions, and a negative electrode cell equipped with a negative electrode and filled with a negative electrode electrolyte containing sulfate ions, the diaphragm for the redox flow battery to separate the positive electrode cell from the negative electrode cell has sulphate ion retaining ability in the diaphragm so that concentration of the sulphate ions in the diaphragm except for sulphate ions existing as counter ions of the ion exchange group of the diaphragm is higher than concentration of the sulphate ion in the electrolyte brought into contact with the diaphragm.
