PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an ink residual quantity in a subtank while suppressing an enlargement of an inkjet printer. SOLUTION: The inkjet printer indirectly detects a volume change of the subtank 121 by detecting a shift of the other end side (sensor contact part 122B) of a pressing lever 122 coupled with an upper end of the subtank 121 and extended from an outer edge of a recording head unit 100 to the outer side. The shift of the other end side (sensor contact part 122B) of the pressing lever 122 shifts in mechanical association with the volume change of the subtank 121. Therefore, by detecting the shift of the sensor contact part 122B, the volume change of the subtank 121, namely, the ink residual quantity in the subtank 121 can be correctly detected as compared with the case of estimating the quantity on the basis of a counted value of the number of ink jetting times.
