PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for detecting corona are provided to determine the abnormality state of power facilities by sensing corona discharge. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for detecting corona(100) comprises a sensing unit(110), a signal processing unit(120), and a controller(130). The sensing unit uses at least two sensors and senses corona discharge which is generated in the power facilities. The signal processing unit determines a sensed signal as a valid signal if the corona discharge is simultaneously detected in at least two sensors. The signal processing unit changes the sensed signal into a voltage signal. The controller determines the abnormal state of the power facilities by using a converted voltage signal.
