PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device which can prevent deposited paper chips from scattering and can easily and efficiently collect the paper chips. SOLUTION: A maintaining and recovering mechanism 71 as a reliability maintaining means for maintaining and recovering states of nozzles of a recording head is provided with an image recording means for ejecting an ink to paper from a recording head mounted to a carriage 13 reciprocatively moving in a main scanning direction, and an endless conveying belt 31 for conveying the paper 22 in a sub-scanning direction orthogonal to the main scanning direction. Further the maintaining and recovering mechanism is provided with a waste liquid tank 150 for storing a waste ink at a location under the belt, and an elastic member for removing paper chips that press-contacts with the conveying belt 31, and a paper chip storage section 64 for receiving the removed paper chips. The paper chips removed from the paper chip storage section 64 are moved toward the waste liquid tank 150 due to their self weight according to an inclination formed on the bottom surface of the paper chip storage section 64, and fall into the waste liquid tank 150 via an opening formed at the lowermost end of the paper chip storage section 64.
