PURPOSE: An electric vehicle and a controlling method thereof are provided to control a motor by outputting a back torque value considering a maximum chargeable power value of a battery pack. CONSTITUTION: A vehicle control unit calculates a torque value which an operator requires from acceleration information(S210). The vehicle control unit calculates a predictive value of increased mechanical power based on a required torque value(S220). The vehicle control unit changes the predictive value of the increased mechanical power into the predictive value of increased electrical power(S230). The vehicle control unit calculates a required predictive power value by adding a current consumption power value with the predictive value of the increased electrical power(S240). The vehicle control unit receives a maximum dischargeable power value of a battery pack from a battery controlling unit(S250). The vehicle control unit compares the required predictive power value and the maximum dischargeable power value(S260). The vehicle control unit outputs a maximum available torque value to a motor controlling unit(S270). The vehicle control unit outputs the required torque value to the motor controlling unit(S280). |
