The device has an adiabatic expansion device (8c) and an isothermal mechanism (6) connected to an adiabatic expansion or compression mechanism (8d) by respective return and main thermal circuits (15, 25). The circuits comprise a main heat exchanger (9) associated with a combustion chamber (9i), and two secondary exchangers (17). An injection or combustion device permits injection or combustion of fuel in the adiabatic expansion or compression mechanism. A thermal mechanism is provided with open circuits that are obtained from opening of a closed circuit at one point.
