The device (2) has suspension units (3) i.e. hooks, suspending a container (4) i.e. perfusion bag, containing medical treatment liquid. Displacement units (7) e.g. suspension cable, raise the suspension units. Optical detection units e.g. stationary optical sensors, detect height of a free liquid surface in the container. Controlling units control operation of the displacement units according to the detected height. The detection units and the controlling units are configured such that the height of liquid contained in the container is maintained in a predetermined height range. The detection units comprise a transmitter (8) and a fixed receiver (11).
