PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a jig and a method for motor downsizing that are simple in construction and to make it possible to easily compress a coil end. SOLUTION: The jig for downsizing includes an insertion member 8 and annular outer frame member 9 and pressing member 10. The insertion member 8 includes a columnar portion 12 with a recess 11 formed therein and an annular portion 13, disposed along the outer circumference of the lower part of the columnar portion 12. The pressing member 10 includes a projection 15 and an annular pressing surface 16 formed on the peripheral portion of the projection 15. A stator 1 is fit onto the columnar portion 12 of the insertion member 8 from above, and then the outer frame member 9 is disposed on the peripheral portion of a coil end 17 at the upper part of the stator 1. The pressing member 10 is fit into the outer frame member 9 and pushed downward, then the projection 15 of the pressing member 10 is fit into the recess 11 of the insertion member 8, and the coil end 17 in the outer frame member 9 is compressed and shaped by the pressing surface 16.
