The invention relates to a method of updating a database for managing a fleet of vehicles (10) when replacing a tyre on a vehicle according to the invention comprising several predetermined spatial zones (Z1 -Z6) by means of a handling machine according to the invention. The database comprises an identifier of each tyre and an identifier (Z1 -Z6) of each predetermined spatial zone (Z1 -Z6), the identifier of each tyre being associated with the identifier of a predetermined spatial zone (Z1 -Z6) in the database. An identifier of the spatial zone in which the tyre is situated is determined when first predetermined conditions are satisfied and an identifier of the tyre is determined when second predetermined conditions are satisfied. The association between the identifiers of the spatial zone and the identifier of the tyre of the database are updated if at least the first and second predetermined conditions are satisfied simultaneously at least once.
