Polymer nanocomposite comprising: a) a polylactic polymer; and b) a modified phyllosilicate composition comprising a modifying agent which is hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium cations which are intercalated between the layers of the phyllosilicate, its preparation process. The polymer nanocomposite is particularly useful for packaging, particularly food and drink packaging.
