<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite material of an aluminum material/thermoplastic foamed resin layer excellent in contactness and moldability, and to provide a method of manufacturing the aluminum material/thermoplastic foamed resin layer. <P>SOLUTION: The composite material of an aluminum material/thermoplastic foamed resin layer comprises a thermoplastic foamed resin layer and aluminum material bonded to one surface or both surfaces of the thermoplastic foamed resin layer, wherein, as the surface layer of aluminum material, a porous aluminum oxide film layer having a surface side thickness of 20 to 500 nm and a barrier type aluminum oxide film layer having a base side thickness of 3 to 30 nm are disposed, on the porous aluminum oxide film layer, small pores having a diameter of 25 to 120 nm are formed and, on a joint part between the aluminum material and the thermoplastic foamed resin layer, a non-foamed resin layer having the same component as the thermoplastic foamed resin layer is formed on the porous aluminum oxide film layer, with a thickness of 1 to 50 μm and up to the depth of 0.5 nm or more toward inner part of the small pore from the surface.
