<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a car navigation device and a car navigation method capable of searching a route on which the fuel consumption of a vehicle becomes small. <P>SOLUTION: This car navigation device is configured to, in a case of searching a guide route to a destination by using road map data including altitude information stored in road map data storage means, calculate at least an air resistance which a vehicle receives when traveling on a road relating to a road link included in the road map data under the consideration of air density depending on the altitude of the road corresponding to the road link, and to predict the fuel consumption when the vehicle travels on the road relating to the road link, and to search such a route that the fuel consumption of the vehicle becomes small based on the predicted fuel consumption. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
