<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a universal driver and a device control method which reduces the burden of a user when re-retrieving a device by changing a setting value. <P>SOLUTION: A universal driver makes a computer execute: a retrieval processing for retrieving a device capable of operating according to all setting values among devices communicatively connected to the computer for executing the universal driver; a determination processing for determining according to each of the setting values whether a device exists incapable of performing an operation according to the setting value among the devices when no device is retrieved in the retrieval processing; a setting change processing for recognizably displaying on a setting change screen a control item of at least one of setting values determined at the determination processing that a device exists incapable of performing an operation according to the setting value; and a re-retrieval processing for re-executing the retrieval processing after the setting value is changed at the setting change processing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
