<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a composition for modulating the activity of sirtuin deacetylase protein family members; p53 activity; apoptosis; lifespan and sensitivity to stress of a cell and an organism. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes bringing a cell into contact with an activating compound of sirtuin deacetylase protein family members, such as flavone, stilbene, flavanone, isoflavone, catechin, chalcone, tannin or anthocyanidin; or an inhibitory compound of sirtuin deacetylase protein family members, such as a sphingolipid, e.g. sphingosine. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
