<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zinc sulfide phosphor having uniform particle size and capable of giving high luminance by low voltage, and to provide a method for manufacturing the zinc sulfide phosphor with industrial advantages. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing includes: a primary firing step of forming a primary fired product by firing a precursor of the zinc sulfide phosphor; a classifying step of adjusting particle diameter to set the median diameter (d<SB POS="POST">50</SB>) of the primary fired product in the range of at least 10 μm to less than 40 μm; an ultrasonic radiation step of making transition from a part of a hexagonal structures to cubic crystal structures by irradiating the fired product having adjusted particle size with ultrasonic waves having 0.5-10 GJ/m of the total amount of energy (calorie) per unit volume; and the secondary firing step of obtaining the zinc sulfide phosphor in which the mixture of at least 85% to less than 99% of the cubic crystal structures and more than 1% to at most 15% of the hexagonal crystal structures is present, by further firing the primary fired product obtained after the irradiation of the ultrasonic waves. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
