<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining heating temperature which enables correct and easy evaluation of the heating temperature having reached in detoxification of an asbestos containing material. <P>SOLUTION: On the occasion of detoxification of the asbestos containing material by heating, the heating temperature that the asbestos containing material reaches in detoxification is determined on the basis of the relation between the amount of formation of akermanite obtained by heating an asbestos containing specimen which contains chrysotile and calcium, and the heating temperature.
