PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transducer which can operate a single or a plurality of strips repeatedly in an arbitrary shape having a partially different radius of curvature by a single line from a single power supply without requiring complicated external connection, and can operate the strips repeatedly to generate a contraction force and/or elongation force at the end while detecting the operating state with a sufficiently large signal output, and to provide a manufacturing process in which the internal wire connection can be formed as a part of an electrode formation process. SOLUTION: The transducer consists of a flexible strip b having electrodes a on the opposite sides, bending when a voltage is applied between the electrodes and generating a voltage or a current between the electrodes when being bent with an external force. The strip b has a first electrode separating portion c for separating the electrodes on the opposite sides in the longitudinal direction at an isolatable interval, and a reverse joint d for connecting the front and rear of isolated adjoining electrodes alternately. Consequently, the strip b is sectioned into a plurality of segments e each having an independent electrode connected alternately on the front and rear. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
