<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow highly-efficient continued operation and reduce power consumption in a refrigerator having a brushless DC motor where a full-wave rectifying circuit and a voltage doubler rectifying circuit are switched to be used. <P>SOLUTION: In a refrigerator, a brushless DC motor 5 rotates and drives a compressor that compresses a refrigerant. A rectifying and smoothing circuit for supplying DC power to an inverter 4 that rotates and drives the brushless DC motor 5 has a full-wave rectifying circuit 1a, a voltage doubler circuit 1b, and means 3 for switching the full-wave rectifying circuit 1a and the voltage doubler circuit 1b. A main control section 8 for controlling the refrigerator is provided with a storage section 9. The storage section 9 stores therein: an upper limit rotational speed of hysteresis where the circuit is switched from the full-wave rectifying circuit 1a to the voltage doubler circuit 1b as the brushless DC motor 5 is driven at an increased speed; and a lower limit rotational speed of hysteresis where the circuit is switched from the voltage doubler circuit 1b to the full-wave rectifying circuit 1a as the brushless DC motor 5 is driven at a reduced speed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
