<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focal plane shutter securing the accuracy of detecting the state of a curtain while suppressing enlargement, and to provide an optical instrument having the same. <P>SOLUTION: This focal plane shutter includes: a base plate that has an aperture; an arm that has a base end rotatably supported by the base plate, and a leading end that oscillates due to the base end rotating with respect to the base plate; a curtain that is connected to the arm so as to be capable of opening and closing the aperture; and sensors that are disposed at positions facing the arm on both sides of the aperture and detect the state of the curtain. The curtain has first and second blades. The location where the second blade and the arm are connected is positioned nearer to the base end of the arm than the location where the first blade and the arm are connected. The second blade includes: a base end connected to the arm; a middle section that is capable of closing the aperture; and a leading end that is capable of shielding at least part of the sensor and protrudes toward the first blade. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
