<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer with improved convenience for removing a printed matter during printing operation. <P>SOLUTION: The printer 100 includes at least three paper discharge trays, and one of them is used as a paper discharge tray of a discharge destination of a printed matter. In addition, the printer 100 can receive a switching instruction which is an instruction for switching the discharge destination. When detecting the switching instruction, the printer 100 selects a paper discharge tray which is to be a switching destination among a plurality of standby trays (S105, S121).
