COMMUNICATION SYSTEM, ROUTER, AND REDUNDANCY METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology capable of communicatively switching a router even if a failure occurs at a router in another local network.

SOLUTION: A communication system comprises: communication terminals which are accommodated in a plurality of local networks respectively; a plurality of networks which transmit data between the communication terminals accommodated in different local networks; and a plurality of routers which connect to the plurality of networks respectively at each local network. The communication terminal comprises a selection and setting unit for selecting and setting a router used for data transmission from the plurality of routers. The router comprises a monitoring unit for monitoring operation of a router in another local network connected with a network the own router is connected with, and a control unit for controlling to switch to another router in a local network the own router is connected with in order to perform data transmission if the own router is selected and set by the selection and setting unit and the monitoring unit has detected abnormality of a router in another local network.
