PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a terminal fitting in which melt loss by arc discharge generated at the time of insertion and pulling-out of the terminal fitting can be reduced, while being a simple structure, and arc discharge can be prevented even if insertion and pulling-out are repeated. SOLUTION: The terminal fitting 9 is provided with a recessed portion 13. The recessed portion 13 is provided dented from a contact surface 14a at the one end part 14a opposed to a mating terminal fitting 26 of the contact surface 14 with the mating terminal fitting 26. An arc generation inhibitor 32 is held in the recessed portion 13. Generation of arc discharge at the time of insertion and pulling out of the terminal fittings 9, 26 is prevented by the arc generation inhibitor 32 held in the recessed portion 13.
