PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a puffer type gas-blast circuit breaker in which exchange of a puffer shaft is easy and high speed of break action is achieved with improved mechanical strength. SOLUTION: The puffer type gas-blast circuit breaker has a breaker portion 2 arranged in a container 1 filled with an insulation gas. The breaker portion 2 has at least main contactors 3, 6 on fixed side and movable side, arc contactors 4, 7 on fixed side and movable side, and a puffer device to compress insulation gas, and an insulation nozzle 10 to blow the insulation gas to arc generated between each arc contactors 4, 7. The insulation gas which is blown to arc and has become high temperature is discharged through a cylindrical puffer shaft 11. The puffer shaft 11 is formed of a pipe member 11a having the arc contactor 7b at the top end and an end member 11b of which one end is jointed capable of splitting to the pipe member 11a at the connection part 11 and the other end is connected to a rod 12 connected to an operating unit side.
