<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a horizontal type tumble drier having a classification function. <P>SOLUTION: The horizontal type tumble drier includes a rotary cylinder 10 having a supply port 41 for an object W to be treated at one end side and a discharge port 50 of the object W to be treated at the other end side, and a heating means 11 heating the inside of the rotary cylinder, and heats and dries the object W to be treated, supplied from the supply port 41, by the heating means 11 in a process of discharging the object W to be treated through the discharge port 50. The horizontal type tumble drier has a blowing port 41 of a carrier gas A at one end side of the rotary cylinder 10, can discharge the carrier gas A with the object W to be treated through the discharge port 50, and includes a classification hood 55 covering the other end side of the rotary cylinder 10. The horizontal type tumble drier has a fixed discharge port 57 for the object W to be treated in a lower part 55d of the classification hood 55, and a fixed exhaust port 56 for the carrier gas A in an upper part 55u.
