<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To substantially extend a common life of an electrode during spot welding. <P>SOLUTION: The band (7) protects an electrode (6) of a spot welding gun which welds metal sheets (3, 4) composed of steel and/or alloy steel, and includes a carrier material (24). At least either of conductive copper layers (16, 21) are formed at a side (15) facing the metal sheets (3, 4) of the carrier material (24) and at a side (17) facing the electrode (6), respectively.
