<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for squeezing the end part of a steel pipe which can reduce temperature variation generated in the heated end part of a steel pipe thereby obtaining a good squeezing performance. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for squeezing the end part of the steel pipe includes: a heating device 12 which simultaneously heats a plurality of materials to be heated by induction heating; a conveyer 13 which conveys the steel pipes while charging the end parts of the steel pipes into a heating device 12 and heating the end parts; a squeezing machine 14 which draws the end part of the conveyed steel pipes and performs squeezing; a squeezing/conveying device 15 which conveys the steel pipe conveyed by the conveyer 13, to the squeezing machine 14; a heating control means 17 for adjusting electric power to be supplied to the heating device 12 in accordance with basic supply electric power calculated by a conditional expression and the number of the steel pipes charged into the heating device; and natural cooling time controlling means 18 which adjusts the natural cooling time required from the completion of heating by the heating device 12 to the start of the squeezing in accordance with the time calculated by the conditional expression when the squeezing machine 14 applies the squeezing to the steel pipe the end part of which is heated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
