Disclosed is a receiving device capable of decreased average power and peak power in sleep periods. The disclosed receiving device is provided with a receiving unit for receiving signals from satellites, a frequency conversion unit for converting the frequency of the received signals to a prescribed intermediate frequency, a synchronization acquisition unit for synchronization acquisition and carrier signal detection, and a synchronization tracking unit for demodulating the message contained in the intermediate frequency signal. The synchronization tracking unit contains a spread code generation unit which generates a spread code synchronized with a spread symbol. The synchronization tracking unit refers to a counter that operates on a clock having as an oscillation source a temperature-compensated oscillator which oscillates at a prescribed frequency, and operates only the counter during sleep periods during which positioning operations are not performed. When the sleep period ends, a control unit predicts for each satellite the starting point of the spread code period from the elapsed time measured by the aforementioned counter and starts up a spread code generation unit allocated to each satellite in accordance with the predicted starting point.
