<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alternate method capable of inexpensively and simply providing an effect similar to that at the time of using an OSD mode. <P>SOLUTION: A video display device comprises a plurality of keys 71a to 71f for each item for operating the video display device and a first light source 20a which illuminates the plurality of keys. When one of the plurality of keys is operated, the operation of the key is not validated and the first light source is turned on.
