<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal which can intuitively grasp a state of a device to be managed such as an image forming device and can improve operability and to provide a managing method of the device. <P>SOLUTION: The portable terminal having a display portion includes: a position specification portion specifying a position of a self-terminal; a direction specifying portion specifying a direction of the self-terminal; and a control portion specifying the prescribed device to be managed, which exists in a prescribed distance range from the self-terminal and in a specified direction of the self-terminal, based on position information of one or a plurality of devices to be managed, which are previously stored, obtaining status information showing the state of the prescribed device to be managed, and displaying information on the display portion. The terminal also includes an imaging portion imaging the specified direction of the self-terminal.
