<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL display device using a long life organic EL element. <P>SOLUTION: The organic EL display device comprises an organic EL element where a first electrode, an organic layer, and a second electrode are laminated sequentially on one surface of a substrate. The organic layer includes a luminous layer, and a carrier transport layer contiguous to the second electrode side of the luminous layer. When time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry is performed in the depth direction for the organic EL element, the maximum value V<SB POS="POST">Cl</SB>of the amount of chlorine ions detected in the luminous layer and the carrier transport layer, and the amount V<SB POS="POST">c</SB>of carbon ions detected at a depth where the maximum value is detected satisfy the following relation; V<SB POS="POST">Cl</SB>/V<SB POS="POST">c</SB>≤2.5×10<SP POS="POST">-5</SP>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
