<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a saddle riding type vehicle that enables a release mechanism to be hardly affected by rain etc. <P>SOLUTION: The saddle riding type vehicle 10 includes: a fellow passenger seat 35 as a seat to openably cover top of a storage chamber 41; a seat lock mechanism 51 which locks the fellow passenger seat 35 at a closing position; a release mechanism 52 which releases the seat lock mechanism 51 when opening the fellow passenger seat 35. The release mechanism 52 is provided in the fellow passenger seat 35, and a cover member 53 is movably attached to the fellow passenger seat 35 so that the release mechanism 52 can be exposed when releasing the cover of the release mechanism 52.
