<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor that prevents deterioration of iron loss characteristics (increase in iron loss) due to compressive stress on a stator core and that is less subject to deterioration of iron loss as a whole and is highly efficient. <P>SOLUTION: A motor includes a stator having electromagnetic steel plates that are formed into the shape of the stator and laminated on top of another. The stator is fixed in a case by shrinkage fitting or by press fitting. The stator has an Si content of 3.5 mass% or more. The stator has: electromagnetic steel plates A each with an outer diameter thereof larger than an inner diameter of the case; and electromagnetic steel plates B each with an outer diameter smaller than the inner diameter of the case.
