PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable both of a quick review of a layout and a review of the details of the layout in a printing preview.

SOLUTION: A printing system includes a preview image drawing section 19 for stepwise creating a plurality of preset levels of print preview image data from intermediate data in a preview intermediate memory section 21; and a print preview display section 20 for displaying page-by-page preview image on a preview screen of a display section 12 based on the print preview image data. The levels include image quality from low to high quality and resolutions from low to high resolutions. The system further includes a preview image database 22 in which only the most recently created print preview image data for each of the levels is kept, and previously created print preview image data is deleted when subsequently created print preview image data is stored.
