<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve safety and cycle characteristics of a lithium ion secondary battery having a negative electrode supported on a surface of a negative electrode collector and including a plurality of columnar bodies made of alloy-based active material. <P>SOLUTION: The lithium ion secondary battery 1 includes the negative electrode 11, a positive electrode 12, a separator 13 interposed between the negative electrode 11 and positive electrode 12, and a nonaqueous electrolyte. The negative electrode 11 for the lithium ion secondary battery includes the collector and a negative electrode active material layer which is supported on the surface of the collector and includes the plurality of columnar bodies made of alloy-based active material, a peripheral edge area of 20-500 μm in width from a peripheral edge of the collector supporting no columnar body. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
