METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DETERMINING AND CONTROLLING CONGESTION IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart a real state of congestion to an STA (wireless station) from an AP (access point).

SOLUTION: An AP generates a service load index and transmits it. The service load index comprises: a BE delay field showing an indication of an average access delay about BE (best effort) frames transmitted between measurement frames, unavailability of a BE service and unavailability of the average access delay about the BE frames; a BK delay field showing a similar indication of BK (background) frames transmitted between the measurement frames; a VI delay field showing a similar indication of VI (video) frames transmitted between the measurement frames; and a VO delay field showing a similar indication of VO (voice) frames transmitted between the measurement frames. An STA receives the service load index as part of single messages from the AP.
