<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a winch apparatus capable of suppressing the consumption power. <P>SOLUTION: The winch apparatus is constituted to control whether to drive a hydraulic motor 131 according to an on-state/off-state of a free-fall switch 171. As a result, when assistance of the hydraulic motor 131 is not required, the consumption of a surplus power, by which the pressure oil to be supplied to the hydraulic motor 131 is always relieved by a relief valve, can be reduced.
