PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent defective display caused by the presence of the external ITO electrode. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display panel, on a viewing side second glass plate 2 having a common electrode pattern 5, an external ITO 9 to be set to the ground potential is formed at a surface of the plate 2 opposite to the liquid crystal 3. Further, on the second glass plate 2, the common electrode wiring 5<SB>c</SB>which is part of the common electrode pattern 5 is formed in a space between the segment electrode wirings 4<SB>b</SB>(segment electrode pattern 4 in the area 32) which are a part of the segment electrode pattern 4 disposed without overlapping the common electrode pattern 5.
