AMS data can be further processed to determine whether to perform a rotation of the display image based at least in part on applying at least one pre-defined criterion to the AMS data.

A method comprising: accessing, by a first processor, raw angular motion sensor (AMS) data from an AMS configured to sense angular motion of a mobile device having a display capable of rendering a display image; determining a state of motion of the mobile device based at least in part on the raw AMS data; in response to determining that the state of motion of the mobile device is a state of relative motion, initiating transmission of AMS data from the first processor to a second processor; and processing the AMS data by the second processor to determine whether to perform a rotation of the display image, where the determination of whether to rotate the display image is based at least in part on applying at least one pre-defined criterion to the AMS data.
