PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device that can maintain a constant distance between non-contact temperature detection means and a surface of the fixing device that is a temperature detection target to perform accurate detection and control of temperature without causing an increase in size and cost of the device.SOLUTION: A fixing device comprises: a fixing member 33; a pressing member 34 that is in pressure contact with the fixing member 33 to form a fixing nip through which a recording medium P is passed; a heating member 32 that heats the fixing member 33; temperature detection means 36 that detects the temperature of a surface of the fixing member 33 in a non-contact manner; and a temperature detection means support member 60 that supports the temperature detection means 36 separated from the surface of the fixing member 33 by a predetermined distance. The temperature detection means support member 30 includes a contact member 60b that is in contact with the fixing member 33 outside a passage area of the recording medium having a passable maximum size and outside an image area.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
