PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignitor of an internal combustion engine which performs re-ignition operation by using a single ignition coil when the misfire occurs, and can further surely avoid the misfire.SOLUTION: This ignitor of an internal combustion engine performs an ignition operation using a battery voltage VBAT as an application voltage VIN of a primary coil 2b of an ignition coil 2 as a basic ignition operation. When it is determined that a misfire occurs after the basic ignition operation, the ignitor switches the application voltage VIN of the primary coil 2b to a boosted voltage VBST generated by a boosting circuit 7, and performs an ignition operation using the boosted voltage VBST as the application voltage VIN of the primary coil 2b as a re-ignition operation (steps 11, 12 in Fig. 2).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
