Disclosed are a device and a method to edit characters, capable of setting a sequence number for each character included in an inputted character string to display the sequence number on a character table, amending or deleting the corresponding character by inputting a control command through the character table on which character to be edited is displayed or by inputting a control command after inputting a sequence number, and inserting character in the front or rear of the corresponding character. The disclosed device sets a sequence number for a character included in a character string inputted by a user, and edits the character included in the inputted character string based on an editing command and an editing character, inputted by the user, and the set sequence number. The device includes: a keyboard display part displaying a keyboard on a touch screen; and a character display part displaying the character string on the touch screen. |
