A method of setting out a floor of a building under construction includes forming a vertical cast in sleeve in the upper end portion of a column formed as a permanent part of the building and inserting an instrument support device is into the sleeve. The instrument support device comprises a vertically-extending support member having a platform which can support an instrument useful in setting out the floor. A device suitable for use in the method is also claimed, the device comprising a tubular support member having a flat metal plate fixed onto one end of the tube, on which plate a setting up instrument can be supported. The tubular support member may be a mild steel cylinder between 1 and 2 meters long and may be tapers to aid insertion into the cast in sleeve. The tubular support member may have a pair of handles. |
