PURPOSE: A novel crystal form of atorvastatin hemi-calcium salt and hydrate thereof are provided to be used as a therapeutic agent for treating hyperlipidemia, hypercholesterolemia, and Alzheimer's disease. CONSTITUTION: An atorvastatin hemi-calcium salt of crystal form alpha type or hydrate thereof has a peak at 2 theta of 8.8, 9.6, 11.9, 16.9, 19.6, 21.7, 23.5, 26.9, 29.7 +/- 0.5 degrees of X-ray powder diffraction. A method for preparing the atorvastatin hemi-calcium salt or the hydrate comprises a step of suspending crude atovastatin hemicalcium salt in a mixture solvent of methanol and water and stirring at 5-25°C for 1-10 hours. |
