PURPOSE: A portable terminal and operation method thereof are provided to input an application execution command and release a touch lock by the operation of a user on a touch lock screen. CONSTITUTION: A control unit displays notification information about the generation of a communication event on a touch lock screen(S420). The control unit receives a user command(S425). The control unit displays a detailed information icon on the touch lock screen(S430). If a drag command is inputted, the control unit releases a touch lock state(S435, S440).
