PURPOSE: A power conversion apparatus is provided to reduce the total number of components of a power conversion apparatus by utilizing a switch module of an inverter circuit for a battery charger for charging a battery. CONSTITUTION: A smoothing unit(110) is composed of a battery(21) and a capacitor(111) connected in parallel. A switch(120) includes at least a pair of switch elements which is connected to the smoothing unit in parallel. A switching controlling unit(130) controls an on-and-off operation for each switch element which is included in the switch. A reactor unit(140) stabilizes a current by reducing the harmonics of the current which are offered from the switch. A relay(150) performs an relay operation according to a relay control signal which is offered from a relay control unit(160). The relay control unit generates the relay control signal according to an operation mode of a power conversion apparatus. A filter unit(170) eliminates an electromagnetic interference from a power source which is supplied from systematic power(11). A rectifying unit(180) rectifies an AC power source from which the electromagnetic interference is removed.
