The turbine (10) has a generator-sided frequency converter for converting an alternating current voltage of variable frequency to a direct current voltage and electrically connected with an electrical load e.g. electric motor. The converter supplies reactive power to the load and receives the power from the load. A main-sided frequency converter converts the direct current voltage into a fixed frequency alternating current voltage, and is connected with the load, where the main-sided converter supplies the reactive power to the load and receives the power from the load. An independent claim is also included for a method of providing reactive power. |
