The method involves transmitting a sequence (33) of right images (24) on a channel of a broadcasting network (17). A sequence (34) of left images (25) is transmitted to a channel of another broadcasting network (18) different from the former broadcasting network for stereoscopic display of the sequences of right and left images received on the respective channels. Information is inserted in one of the sequences of right and left images to trigger reception of processing of the sequences of images as a stereoscopic video. The former broadcasting network is constituted of a standard definition terrestrial digital TV network, and the latter broadcasting network is constituted of a high definition terrestrial digital TV network. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an equipment for broadcasting a stereoscopic video, comprising broadcasting units for transmitting a sequence of right images to a channel of a broadcasting network (2) a method for receiving broadcast stereoscopic video (3) a computer program comprising a set of instructions for implementing a method for receiving broadcast stereoscopic video (4) a stereoscopic video receiving equipment comprising two tuners for simultaneously receiving two sequences of images respectively on two channels of two separate broadcasting networks.
